Kevin McCarthy, the author of \u201cBlindSpots: Why Good People Make Bad Choices\u201d will be speaking at an EthicsFirst workshop event next month. The first 150 attendees to the workshop will get a free book and will have the opportunity to talk with Kevin after the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The theme of the fall 2022 EthicsFirst event is \u201cCourage to Live Your Shared Values.\u201d It will include the keynote speech, giveaways, complimentary breakfast and presentations from students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kevin\u2019s keynote speech will go over hidden biases, assumptions and thinking errors that cloud perception, drive destructive behaviors and impair decision-making. The event promises to help attendees make more ethical decisions, at work and at home; learn to better communicate with others and reduce conflict; foster improved relationships with co-workers, friends and family, identify the blind spots that hinder you from living your best life; and expose invisible barriers that impact professional performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EthicsFirst, which is put on by the Ethics and Compliance Program and sponsored by Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Collegiate Program at UCCS and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Office, noted that UCCS has adopted a set of values to which it is committed, including specifically a commitment to the UCCS Ethical values of integrity, trust, respect and accountability an expectation that each member of the campus community will engage in ethical behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event, which will take place from 7:30 a.m. \u2013 12 p.m. on Oct. 3, is free and open to all UCCS Staff, faculty and students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
