Upon his retirement in 2020, each of the four CU campuses announced plans to dedicate named spaces in the Bensons\u2019 honor. The celebration, originally planned for 2020, was postponed due to COVID-19 and finally took place on May 6, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chancellor Venkat Reddy spoke about the Bensons\u2019 lasting influence on UCCS. Notably, Benson was president during pivotal moments in the university&#8217;s history \u2014 including during UCCS&#8217; explosive growth in enrollment, which began in 2006.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThank you, Bruce and Marcy,\u201d Reddy said. \u201cI speak for all of us when I say you led with both determination and heart. We are delighted to name this atrium in your honor.
