{"id":13964,"date":"2014-02-13T13:57:57","date_gmt":"2014-02-13T20:57:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=13964"},"modified":"2018-06-01T10:26:28","modified_gmt":"2018-06-01T16:26:28","slug":"photo-feature-beth-el-students-and-instructor-give-valentines-to-childrens-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=13964","title":{"rendered":"Photo feature: Beth-El students and instructor give Valentines to Children\u2019s Hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The UCCS Beth-El Student Nursing Association delivered 208 teddy bears to the patients at the Children&#8217;s Hospital Colorado in Memorial Hospital\u00a0Feb. 12.<\/p>\n<p>The bears were built Feb. 10 at the Build-A-Bear Workshop in the Chapel Hills Mall. More than 75 volunteers assisted the BSNA members in building the costumed bears.\u00a0According to Sue Davis, senior instructor, Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences, one of the volunteers was 3-year- old boy who originally came to the mall to build his own bear but instead donated his finished product to the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He told us he wanted his Sponge Bob to go to a little girl that was really sick,&#8221; Davis said.<\/p>\n<p>Because of hospital regulations, the Student Nurses Association members were not allowed to deliver the bears directly to patients.
