{"id":13702,"date":"2014-01-23T12:58:55","date_gmt":"2014-01-23T19:58:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=13702"},"modified":"2014-01-24T11:40:53","modified_gmt":"2014-01-24T18:40:53","slug":"olson-elected-to-colorado-springs-convention-visitors-bureau-board-of-directors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=13702","title":{"rendered":"Olson elected to Colorado Springs Convention &#038; Visitors Bureau board of directors"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_13704\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13704\" style=\"width: 187px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/eric_action-1.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13704\" alt=\"Eric Olson\" src=\"http:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/eric_action-1.jpg\" width=\"187\" height=\"280\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13704\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Eric Olson<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Eric Olson, professor, College of Business, and director, Sport Management Program, was recently elected to the\u00a0Colorado Springs Convention &amp; Visitors Bureau\u00a02014 Board of Directors and Slate of Officers.<\/p>\n<p>The Colorado Springs Convention &amp; Visitors Bureau\u00a0\u00a0was incorporated in 1980 as a private non-profit corporation to promote Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region as a year-round visitor destination.\u00a0 The organization is governed by a board of directors chaired by Alicia McConnell of the U.S. Olympic Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Olson will serve alongside\u00a0Andy Neinas of Echo Canyon River Expeditions, Steve Kanatzar of The Airplane Restaurant, John Rovie of The Broadmoor, Tom Osborne of The Sports Corporation, and David Cannon of the U.S. Air Force Academy.<\/p>\n<p>The Colorado Springs Convention &amp; Visitors Bureau is the premier marketing organization for Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region (El Paso, Teller and Fremont Counties). The bureau&#8217;s goal is to increase awareness of the region and inspire travel by marketing to families, groups and organizations, and is\u00a0funded through partnership fees, sponsorships, events and a portion of the Lodgers and Auto Rental Tax which is collected and administered by the City of Colorado Springs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>Eric Olson, professor, College of Business, and director, Sport Management Program, was recently elected to the\u00a0Colorado Springs Convention &amp; Visitors Bureau\u00a02014 Board of Directors and Slate of Officers.
