Two years ago, it broke the top-ten ranking for criminology journals; now, it has been named the fifth most influential journal in its field worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Co-edited by Caudill and Chad&nbsp;Trulson, Professor of Criminal Justice for the University of North Texas, the quarterly journal provides academic and juvenile justice practitioners with peer-reviewed research on programs,&nbsp;policies&nbsp;and practices in the areas of youth violence and juvenile justice.&nbsp;It particularly encourages the publication of program evaluations, policy analyses and empirical research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to its top-five ranking, the&nbsp;SCImago&nbsp;Journal Rank \u2013 a measure of the scientific influence of scholarly journals \u2013 gives \u201cYouth Violence and Juvenile Justice\u201d an \u201coutstanding\u201d h-index of 46. The h-index&nbsp;combines measures of productivity (i.e., number of papers produced) and impact (number of citations) to measure the scope and influence of academic publications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/home\/yvj\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/YVJJ2021.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-136280\" width=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/YVJJ2021.png 619w, https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/YVJJ2021-300x436.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 619px) 100vw, 619px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>SAGE Publishing&#8217;s 2021 Journal Citation Reports ranks &#8220;Youth Violence and Juvenile Justice&#8221; among the top five criminology journals worldwide.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe ability to facilitate knowledge creation and dissemination is something I enjoy very much,\u201d Caudill said. \u201cHaving the opportunity to work with scholars from around the world is invaluable.&nbsp;We have a great editorial board and that makes our job so much easier. Also, we have remarkable support from the&nbsp;university, the School of Public Affairs, and our colleagues, which is meaningful in many ways.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">George Reed, <meta charset=\"utf-8\">Dean of the School of Public Affairs,&nbsp;noted that the journal&#8217;s top-five nod&nbsp;\u201cis continuing evidence of the increasing prominence of our Criminal Justice program. Our faculty remain dedicated to providing&nbsp;great value&nbsp;to the field and,&nbsp;most importantly, to our community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Caudill is a professor and director of the Master of Criminal Justice program in UCCS\u2019 School of Public Affairs. In addition to co-editing \u201cYouth Violence and Juvenile Justice\u201d, he&nbsp;serves as an&nbsp;associate&nbsp;editor for the Journal of Criminal Justice.
