Faculty, staff, students, UCCS alumni and local community partners celebrated the launch of the Technical Communication and Information Design (TCID) degree program at UCCS Downtown on Oct. 11.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

On Oct. 11, over 45 UCCS alumni, students, local community partners and faculty attended the launch event for the Technical Communication and Information Design (TCID) degree at UCCS Downtown. The University of Colorado Board of Regents approved the degree in 2020, and a celebration was delayed until this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Events speakers included Lynn Vidler, Dean of the College of Letters, Arts & Sciences, Sean Williams, Professor and Program Chair for TCID, Josh Green, Associate Director of Development, Ian Graheck, a current UCCS student, and Paul Massey ’98, an alumnus of the UCCS English with an Emphasis on Professional Writing degree and now Technical Order Manager for L3 Harris Technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UCCS’ TCID degree is the first program of its kind in Colorado and one of only six standalone TCID programs in the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTCID is a great example of how UCCS is growing community and national workforce needs through innovative and unique programs that prepare students to immediately enter well-paying careers with the skills and experiences to succeed,\u201d said Josh Green, associate director of development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCommunity partners that employ technical editors, writers and user experience designers are turning to UCCS for the expertise and well-trained students and grads who will have a positive impact on their companies\u2019 continued growth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was an opportunity for current students to also connect with local community partners to learn about internships and for the community to learn about ways to support the TCID program. Learn more about TCID<\/a> on the UCCS website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
