October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and the Office of Information Technology has some frightfully fun events lined up to bring cybersecurity straight to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the events is the fourth annual free e-recycle event, open to all UCCS faculty, staff and students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the last three years, during the month of October, OIT has collected and properly disposed of 7,860 pounds of e-waste and 690 hard drives, keeping them out of landfills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have been looking forward to this event for the past several months,” said Neil Kautzner, Information Security Officer. “By collecting these items, we are excited for the opportunity to connect with everyone. In addition, we are helping keep your information safe and secure by shredding your hard drives and keeping e-waste from going into our landfills.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
