{"id":133560,"date":"2021-07-02T10:15:39","date_gmt":"2021-07-02T16:15:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=133560"},"modified":"2022-04-21T15:34:12","modified_gmt":"2022-04-21T21:34:12","slug":"theatreworks-announces-long-awaited-2021-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/?p=133560","title":{"rendered":"Theatreworks Announces Long-Awaited 2021 Season"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2014Theatreworks has announced its schedule for the 2021-22 season, highlighted by the return of in-person performances at the Ent Center for the Arts and led by Artistic Director Caitlin Lowans.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For its 46th season, Theatreworks will present five plays, beginning in September with Jen Silverman\u2019s \u201cWitch\u201d and ending in the summer of 2022 with Shakespeare\u2019s \u201cTwelfth Night.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cArtists have missed our audiences, and each of these plays builds on the special relationship audiences and artists have with each other,\u201d Lowans said. \u201cEach story explores resilience in the face of difficulty, seasoned with the joy, laughter, and music that carries us through. We\u2019re excited to safely welcome back a live, in-person audience while building upon our commitment to the Colorado Springs community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This season\u2019s directorial slate includes Lowans, who will direct \u201cWitch;\u201d Marisa&nbsp;H\u00e9bert, an&nbsp;active member of the Colorado Springs theatre community, who will direct \u201cEvery Brilliant Thing;\u201d Julio Agustin, a multi-faceted and highly sought-after director\/choreographer, who will direct \u201cElliot: A Soldier\u2019s Fugue;\u201d and Kathryn Walsh, a Chicago-based director who specializes in Shakespeare, who returns to Theatreworks to direct \u201cTwelfth Night.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Subscriptions\/passes for the season are on sale at entcenterforthearts.org or through the UCCS box office at (719) 255-3232. Season tickets purchased now through Aug. 1 include an early-bird discount.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to the upcoming season, \u201cLady Day at Emerson\u2019s Bar and Grill,\u201d begins July 15 and runs three weekends in the Shockley-Zalabak Theater.
