Students can also share badges with their family and friends on social media or through email.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMerit allows us to showcase our students and their accomplishments, both in and out of the classroom,\u201d Philip Denman, social media and communication specialist, University Advancement, said. \u201cThis is a great opportunity for both our students and for UCCS.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"What is Merit?\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/66591963?h=6b8f71a35e&amp;dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"740\" height=\"416\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>When a student is awarded a badge,\u00a0he or she will\u00a0receive an email with a link to a personal Merit page, which includes\u00a0a badge and a description of the achievement. From there, students can customize their profile with a picture, personal description, and personal badges to represent work experience, internships or club memberships.<\/p>\n<p>Students who do not wish to participate in Merit Pages can do so by clicking on an \u201copt-out\u201d link on the bottom of the email they receive.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the program is to highlight student achievement and to increase awareness of the university in a medium popular with students.
