It requires commitment, thoughtfulness, patience and compassion. Most importantly, it depends on the contributions of all. We are\u202f<em>all<\/em>\u202fengaged in the work&nbsp;of&nbsp;building&nbsp;an inclusive campus where every member of our campus community can thrive.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because we each have a part to play in these efforts, I have assembled a cross-campus Equity, Diversity and Inclusion task force that includes faculty, staff and students, to be chaired by Dr. Stephany Rose Spaulding.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The task force is charged with the following:\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>assessing immediate campus EDI needs and concerns;&nbsp;<\/li><li>advising the Chancellor and the Cabinet on allocating funds provided by CU President Mark Kennedy for EDI efforts; and&nbsp;<\/li><li>offering recommendations on the timeline and structure of the national search for the next EDI leader at UCCS.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Untitled-design-7.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-128127\" width=\"226\" height=\"271\" srcset=\"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Untitled-design-7.png 500w, https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Untitled-design-7-300x360.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 226px) 100vw, 226px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The task force members include:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Chair<\/strong><br><strong>Dr. Stephany Rose Spaulding<\/strong>, interim associate vice chancellor of equity, diversity and inclusion&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Faculty&nbsp;<\/strong><br><strong>Dean Lynn Vidler<\/strong>, College of Letters, Arts and Sciences&nbsp;<br><strong>Dr. Juan-Maria Gallego<\/strong>, instructor of marketing&nbsp;<br><strong>Dr. Monica Yoo<\/strong>, associate professor of teaching and learning&nbsp;<br><strong>Dr. Heather Song<\/strong>, associate professor of electrical engineering&nbsp;<br><strong>Dr. Connie Staley<\/strong>, professor of communication&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Staff<\/strong><br><strong>Alex Baker<\/strong>, case manager, Office of the Dean of Students&nbsp;<br><strong>Allison \u201cAlli\u201d Quintana<\/strong>, grounds and nursery, Physical Plant Department&nbsp;<br><strong>Rose Walker<\/strong>, talent acquisition and compensation manager, Human Resources&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Students and Alumni&nbsp;<br>Miles Jones<\/strong>, communications major; senator of multicultural affairs for the Student Government Association&nbsp;<br><strong>Jerome Young MPA \u201920<\/strong>, military and veteran outreach coordinator, Office of Veteran and Military Affairs<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are all accountable for building an environment where our whole lives \u2013\u202fnot just our roles, positions or contributions to campus \u2013\u202fare honored and respected. This work can feel as small as offering a listening ear to our peers and colleagues, and as large as creating deep institutional change.
