In a time when the university is struggling to stay connected to students due to physical separation, the Alumni Relations team revamped the game. These boxes are a bright and shiny smile mailed to each student in a COVID world where smiles are harder to come by. This will be something these new alumni remember for a long time. <\/p>

I have been out sick and it has been very challenging navigating a pandemic, acclimating to a new position on campus, coming up on my sister’s death anniversary, and caring for my parents. And anyone who knows me knows I’m a worker bee. I like to work and work a lot, but haven’t been able to be at maximum productivity. I will admit that I was struggling with some pretty dark moments. In addition to everyone in the College of Education, Dr. Bell and Ellen reached out and encouraged me to get support. I know everyone is going through a lot right now and have plenty of their own responsibilities and concerns. Having respected colleagues take their precious (and limited) time and effort to ensure I knew I was valued and needed, made a world of difference. A good reminder for anyone that many people (sometimes ones you do not see regularly) care very much about you. Thank you both for going above and beyond. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The beginning of November saw an incredible inflation of COVID-19 cases in the county and especially at UCCS. Stephanie and Billie Jo provided prompt service and clear direction to our students to mitigate the risk of spread. This was accomplished through 16-hour days where countless phone calls were made, students traced, records made all while conducting a normal rate of patient load. I find comfort in knowing these two are guiding the health of our student body.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Stephanie is passionately dedicated to our students in her position as the Exhibitions and Program Manager for the UCCS Galleries of Contemporary Art. It shows in their retention as student employees, typically staying with us for all four years if we are able to hire as freshmen. <\/p>

Stephanie works very hard to create an environment of respect and learning for the students, as well as the professional artists, contractors, and UCCS staff and faculty whom we work with to realize major projects for GOCA. The recent “Windmill Project” is a prime example of this, due in large part to the fact that we would not have pulled off a sculpture of this scale without her careful and thoughtful project management. Especially after coming off a serious and demoralizing furlough period at the Ent Center, her positive energy and commitment to excellence and respect is so valuable to UCCS and our arts community.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
