The prestigious Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative fellowships are awarded to UCCS faculty and staff who demonstrate excellence in pedagogical activities related to applied business, professional and organizational ethics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new fellows are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Thomas Aicher<\/strong>, assistant professor of sport management, College of Business<\/li><li><strong>Meghan Stidd<\/strong>, assistant dean for external relations, College of Business<\/li><li><strong>Mark Bacheldor<\/strong>, program director of PGA golf management, College of Business<\/li><li><strong>Bradford Monson<\/strong>, instructor of business law, College of Business<\/li><li><strong>Cortny Stark<\/strong>, assistant professor of counseling and human services, College of Education<\/li><li><strong>Gedare Bloom<\/strong>, assistant professor of computer science, College of Engineering and Applied Science<\/li><li><strong>Phillip Brown<\/strong>, assistant professor of computer science, College of Engineering and Applied Science<\/li><li><strong>Deborah Kenny<\/strong>, associate professor of nursing, Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences<\/li><li><strong>Dan Lykins<\/strong>, senior instructor of human physiology and nutrition, College of Letters, Arts &amp; Sciences<\/li><li><strong>Paige Whitney<\/strong>, clinical instructor of health sciences, Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences<\/li><li><strong>Robert von Dassanowsky<\/strong>, professor of German and film, director of film studies, Visual and Performing Arts, College of Letters, Arts &amp; Sciences<\/li><li><strong>Elena Svetieva<\/strong>, assistant professor of communication, College of Letters, Arts &amp; Sciences<\/li><li><strong>Mary Fortson-Harwell<\/strong>, clinical assistant professor &amp; MSW field education director, School of Public Affairs<\/li><li><strong>Daniel Olson<\/strong>, instructor of criminal justice, School of Public Affairs<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-very-dark-gray-color wp-block-paragraph\">The ethics fellow program started in 2011 in the College of Business and quickly expanded to other colleges across campus. <a>With the addition of the 2020-21 cohort<\/a>, 65 educators on UCCS campus will serve as ethics fellows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each fellow is selected based upon their proposal to encourage learning opportunities in ethical thought and decision making to their respective college and area of focus. This extension of principle-based ethics can take the form of classroom materials, workshops and other various platforms, according to Tracy Gonzalez-Padron, director, Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative at UCCS and professor, College of Business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe received a record number of applications for the ethics fellow program from all colleges,\u201d said Gonzalez-Padron. \u201cThis year, many of the ethics fellows\u2019 projects will develop ethics education for online and remote learning, in addition to exciting student engagement opportunities on campus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UCCS fellows work with ethics champions from nine colleges and\nuniversities in southern Colorado through the UCCS Southern Colorado Ethics Consortium\n(SCEC) Ethics Champions Program. The SCEC Ethics Champion program is designed\nto create a collaborative community to expand principle-based ethics in southern\nColorado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEach\nfellow is an expert resource for our campus and community, and we are proud to\nbe a catalyst for ethics education throughout southern Colorado,\u201d said Karen\nMarkel, dean of the College of Business. \u201cAs the program continues to expand,\nwe are excited to welcome our largest cohort of Ethics Fellows in the 2020-21\nacademic year.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A virtual Ethics Champion Orientation will be held on August 21-20, 2020 to recognize the incoming DFEI at UCCS Fellows, UCCS Student Ethics Ambassadors and SCEC Ethics Champions to prepare them for their new roles as ethics educators. The UCCS College of Business is one of eight original participating schools in the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.danielsfund.org\/Ethics\/Collegiate.asp\" target=\"_blank\">Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Collegiate Program<\/a>&nbsp;that now includes twelve participating schools. Since 2016, the DFEI Collegiate Program at UCCS has partnered with schools of the Southern Colorado Higher Education Consortium to expand principle-based ethics education. College presidents select one faculty member to be an Ethics Champion for their campus.
