UCCS is now a founding member of the Space Information\nSharing and Analysis Center (ISAC), joining organizations including Lockheed\nMartin, Booz Allen Hamilton and Northrop Grumman in facilitating collaboration\nacross the global space industry. Gretchen Bliss, UCCS\u2019 director of cybersecurity\nprograms, will sit on the Space ISAC Board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UCCS\u2019 addition to the organization will create new access\nfor the ISAC to Colorado\u2019s space and cybersecurity ecosystems, and to UCCS\u2019 cybersecurity\nengineer students and graduates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUCCS is uniquely positioned to provide the cybersecurity\nworkforce and research that industry and government are looking for with the\nheadquarters of the Space ISAC, National Cybersecurity Center and Exponential\nImpact all located in our cybersecurity building,\u201d Bliss said in response to\nthe news. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur students and faculty will be able to collaborate with\nthe leading organizations, government, academia and industry in the space and\ncybersecurity fields on education, training and research. They\u2019ll be able to\nprovide timely, effective solutions to hard problems at the national level.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Erin Miller, vice president of operations for Space ISAC at\nthe National Cybersecurity Center, said, \u201cWith their cybersecurity program\nspanning across the College of Engineering, College of Business, and College of\nPublic Affairs, UCCS is bringing a focus on cybersecurity specific to space\nunlike any other university. With the university\u2019s proximity and close ties to\nboth the U.S. Space Force and U.S. Space Command, their partnership will help\nthe Space ISAC and our future growth of training programs reach untapped\npotential.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Space ISAC was announced in April 2019 during a\nclassified session at the 35th Space Symposium and is headquartered in Colorado\nSprings, co-located with the National Cybersecurity Center. It is a space\nsector-specific, member-driven organization supported by the federal government.\nIts members collect, analyze and disseminate cyber and physical security\nthreats and risk mitigation information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each board member has a role in fulfilling the mission of the ISAC: to facilitate collaboration across the global space industry to enhance our ability to prepare for and respond to vulnerabilities, incidents, and threats; to disseminate timely and actionable information among member entities; and to serve as the primary communications channel for the sector with respect to this information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
