(opens in a new tab)\">Register online.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chancellor Venkat Reddy and\nProvost Tom Christensen will introduce Markel before she addresses faculty,\nstaff, students, alumni and the business community. There will be time for a\nshort Q&amp;A at the end of the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a welcome letter to campus,\nMarkel wrote, \u201cIt was easy to recognize that UCCS is a special university \u2013 I\nwas drawn here for many reasons, the first being the obvious commitment to\nstudent success from faculty, staff, alumni and the broader business community.\u201d\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Markel&#8217;s priorities for the College of Business\u2019s growth include expanding Colorado Springs area employer relations, assessing employer and workforce needs and preparing graduates for the types of jobs that will be available in the next five to 10 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Markel is the former dean of the College of Business and Public\nPolicy at the University of Alaska Anchorage and was\npreviously at Oakland University of Rochester, Michigan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"http:\/\/click.communications.cu.edu\/?qs=b155f7aaca25b733311a5c2f3bf9e4e257e2092e0fa56a3ff913aacb512a3cd383c11f91fb3cc5e4a43130231cbe515156d037f34e956d80\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Register for the live event online.
