Her session is titled <a href=\"https:\/\/academicminute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/06-15-20-UCCS-Molecular-Analysis-is-Revolutionizing-Native-Trout-Conservation.mp3?_=1\">&#8220;Molecular Analysis is Revolutionizing Native Trout Conservation&#8221; and aired June 15<\/a>.<\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uccs.edu\/obihun\/\">Oksana Bihun<\/a><\/strong>, former associate professor of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uccs.edu\/math\/\">mathematics<\/a>. Her session is titled <a href=\"https:\/\/academicminute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/06-16-20-UCCS-Solvable-Dynamical-Systems.mp3?_=1\">&#8220;Solvable dynamical systems&#8221; and aired June 16<\/a>.<\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uccs.edu\/psych\/beth_daniels\">Elizabeth Daniels<\/a><\/strong>, associate professor of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uccs.edu\/psych\/\">psychology<\/a>. Her session is titled <a href=\"https:\/\/academicminute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/06-17-20-UCCS-Do-Media-and-Body-Image-Create-an-Early-Exit-for-Middle-School-Girls.mp3?_=1\">&#8220;The STEM pipeline: Do media and body image create an early exit for middle school girls?&#8221; and aired June 17<\/a>.<\/li><li> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mae.uccs.edu\/people\/jena-mccollum.php\">Jena McCollum<\/a><\/strong>, assistant professor of <a href=\"https:\/\/mae.uccs.edu\/index.php\">mechanical and aerospace engineering<\/a>. Her session is titled <a href=\"https:\/\/academicminute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/06-18-20-UCCS-3D-Printing-From-Concrete-to-Rockets.mp3?_=1\">&#8220;3D Printing: From Concrete to Rockets&#8221; and aired June 18<\/a>. <\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uccs.edu\/biology\/faculty_staff\/Eugenia_Olesnicky_Killian\">Eugenia Olesnicky Killian<\/a><\/strong>, associate professor of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uccs.edu\/biology\/\">biology<\/a>. Her session is titled <a href=\"https:\/\/academicminute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/06-19-20-UCCS-Using-Fruit-Flies-to-Understand-the-Genetics-of-Neurological-Disorders.mp3?_=1\">&#8220;Using fruit flies to understand the genetics of neurological disorders&#8221; and aired June 19<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This article will be updated with links to their audio as it is broadcast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Our faculty are doing amazing research that too often flies under the radar. So, when I learned about the option to submit for a &#8216;weekly takeover&#8217; by a single campus to this national NPR podcast featured in Inside Higher Ed, I just knew we had to go for it,&#8221; said Jessi Smith, associate vice chancellor for research. &#8220;Picking just five people to feature was incredibly difficult and we pitched the idea to make it a feature about our outstanding women in STEM fields. I couldn\u2019t be more excited about how our scholars bring complicated and difficult concepts into the public sphere \u2013 in just a couple of minutes. Conveying complicated science in laymen terms is a skill in itself, and wow, do they nail it. When 100 people read a research paper, everyone is impressed. With this podcast, the reach is exponential. This &#8216;takeover&#8217; by UCCS researchers enhances our reputation and expands the impact of their research many times over.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Academic Minute&nbsp;features professors and researchers from colleges and universities around the world discussing what\u2019s new in the academy and the ways in which academic research contributes to serving the public good.
