After\ndiscussions with campus and alumni leadership, the College of Business made the\ndecision to postpone the luncheon out of safety concerns for attendees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPhil and Ann Winslow have made great contributions to\nthe Pikes Peak Region through business and community leadership,\u201d said\nChancellor Venkat Reddy.&nbsp;\u201cUCCS is proud to honor their nearly sixty-year\nentrepreneurial legacy and\nwe will do so when it is safe for our honorees, attendees and students to be back\non campus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>About the Awardees<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BMW is an international brand, but to Colorado\nSprings\u2019 residents, Winslow BMW is a family-owned business that is\ncharacterized by loyalty, quality and customer focus. The Winslow\u2019s have been\nintegral to the automobile industry in Colorado Springs since 1961 and they continue\nto influence and impact the local community, both personally and\nprofessionally. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-medium is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Winslow-Phil-300x450.jpg\" alt=\"Phil Winslow with his arms folded\" class=\"wp-image-118166\" width=\"290\" height=\"434\" srcset=\"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Winslow-Phil-300x450.jpg 300w, https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Winslow-Phil-750x1125.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 290px) 100vw, 290px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At just 24 years old, Phil became the youngest\nVolkswagen dealer in the country. When his father passed away in 1964, Phil was\nappointed to be dealer successor and took ownership of formally-named Phil Winslow\nMotors, Inc. He purchased the BMW dealership in 1983 and has since driven\ndecades of continuous growth and success for Winslow BMW of Colorado Springs,\nwhile still maintaining its family-run charm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Phil\u2019s impact stretches far beyond the borders of\nColorado Springs. He has held various roles in local, state, and national\norganizations, including industry-focused positions as Chair of the Colorado\nAutomobile Dealers Association Board of Directors and Vice Chair of the\nVolkswagen of America National Dealer Advisory Council. With an affection for\neducation, Phil was appointed by both Republican and Democratic governors of\nColorado to serve 10 years as a Trustee of the State Colleges of Colorado and\nhas served UCCS and the local school systems in various capacities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"alignright size-medium is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Winslow-BMW-UCCS-5-300x450.jpg\" alt=\"Ann Winslow leaning up against a glass wall\" class=\"wp-image-118167\" width=\"290\" height=\"436\" srcset=\"https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Winslow-BMW-UCCS-5-300x450.jpg 300w, https:\/\/communique.uccs.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Winslow-BMW-UCCS-5-750x1125.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 290px) 100vw, 290px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ann\u2019s passion for cars was apparent from an early age.\nGrowing up as an only child in Baytown, Texas, she developed an affection for\ncars and football from her father. In\n1991, Ann became the executive director of the Colorado Springs Automobile\nDealers Association and in 1995, she also accepted the role of executive\ndirector of the Colorado Springs Executives Association. Her exceptional\nleadership skills and business ambition served both organizations for over a decade and\nshe later joined her husband as vice president of corporate communications at\nWinslow BMW of Colorado Springs. Ann has been essential to the success of BMW\nover the years. She blends an undeniable love for cars with an unwavering work\nethic, helping to define Winslow BMW of Colorado Springs as one of the top\ncustomer service providers and community-oriented organizations in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ann has served on various nonprofit boards and\ncommittees, including the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region, Goodwill Industries of\nColorado Springs, Mountain Post Historical Association, Women\u2019s Foundation of\nColorado, the City of Colorado Springs Capital Improvements Task Force, among\nmany others. She was Vice Chair\nof the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Chairman of Newborn Hope, and served\non the national board for the Association of Junior Leagues and as president of\nthe Junior League of Colorado Springs. In 2011, she was honored\nas a Colorado Springs Business Journal\u2019s Women of Influence for her\nprofessional accomplishments and dedication to the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Together, the Winslows are supporters of several local\nnon-profits. Winslow BMW of Colorado Springs has supported the United States\nBobsled and Skeleton Federation, sponsored the Wine Festival of Colorado\nSprings in support of the Colorado Springs Conservatory and contributed to the\nChildren\u2019s Literacy Center of Colorado Springs.&nbsp;\nAt UCCS, they have backed the Unstoppable Women\u2019s luncheon, Ent Center\nfor the Arts, Reach Your Peak Scholarship Fund, the John Suthers Scholarship\nEndowment Fund and the Professor Robert W. Knapp Scholarship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Phil and Ann Winslow follow a list of distinguished past\naward recipients including Gary Loo (2009), Bruce Shepard (2010), Joe Woodford\n(2011), Cari Shaffer (2012), Chuck Murphy (2013), David Jenkins (2014), Jon and\nBecky Medved (2015), Ed and Mary Osborne (2016), Lyda Hill (2017), Brenda Smith\n(2018) and Jim Berger (2019).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Event Details<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uccs.edu\/business\/alumni\/lifetime-entrepreneurship-award-luncheon\">2021 award luncheon<\/a> is a fundraising event to support the UCCS College of Business Alumni Association and the newly launched College of Business R.O.A.R. Program, which connects alumni, employers and community professionals to students through career exploration, internship and mentorship. The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. May 20 in the Gallogly Events Center on the UCCS campus.
