Homecoming is in full swing as UCCS community members celebrate school spirit and traditions.<\/p>\n
Throughout the week, students, faculty, staff and alumni cleaned flood damage\u00a0at Garden of the Gods park, painted windows in black and gold, decorated residence halls and offices, donated clothes to TESSA, experienced the wines of Thomas Jefferson, and lit the Pedestrian Spine and a set of massive U-C-C-S letters during a spirit rally.<\/p>\n
“This year, we have a\u00a0 had a combination of unique events, as well as traditional homecoming activities that are seen at universities across the country,” Stephen Cucchiara, assistant director, Office of Student Activities, said. “Students are jazzed and participation at all the events has been incredible.”<\/p>\n
The week’s events will culminate on Oct. 4 when\u00a0faculty, staff and students don UCCS gear and walk en masse from Summit Village to Mountain Lion Stadium to watch the men’s and women’s soccer teams take on\u00a0Regis University. The March starts at\u00a03 p.m. on the Housing Turf Quad, with women’s and men’s soccer games kicking off at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
“All the talk around campus this week has been for Friday\u2019s activities,” Cucchiara said. “Students will have the opportunity to channel their inner-mountain lion spirit by painting their faces, posters, and rallying with other students to cheer on our soccer teams.”<\/p>\n
A Homecoming bonfire follows the games at 9 p.m. in Lot 12 and will feature music, food and drinks.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a>
