More than 30 new faculty members joined UCCS for the fall semester. Over the past weeks, those who hold instructor, assistant professor or associate professor positions were introduced to the campus.<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s final installment includes four faculty members from the College of Business, Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences and the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences as well as the director of Center for Excellence in Writing, an office that strives to create a culture of writing on campus and that serves students, faculty and staff.<\/p>\n

Marilee Brooks-Gillies,<\/b> director, Center for Excellence in Writing, Division of Student Success.<\/p>\n

Brooks-Gillies previously was a teaching assistant at Michigan State University and a coordinator and developer for Michigan State University\u2019s Writing Center. She earned a bachelor\u2019s degree from Alma College, a master\u2019s degree from Central Michigan University and a Ph.D. from Michigan State University.<\/p>\n

Matthew Metzger<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Matthew Metzger,<\/b> assistant professor, College of Business.<\/p>\n

Metzger previously was a student at the University of Oregon and worked closely with the UCCS College of Business in developing a business plan competition.<\/p>\n

He earned a bachelor\u2019s degree from CU-Boulder, a master\u2019s degree from Notre Dame University and Ph.D. from the University of Oregon.<\/p>\n

Mary Jo Stanley<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Mary Jo Stanley<\/b>, assistant professor, Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences.<\/p>\n

Stanley previously was an assistant professor at the University of Northern Colorado, a lecturer at San Jose State University and a practicing nurse.<\/p>\n

She earned bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degrees from San Jose State and Ph.D. from the University of Northern Colorado.<\/p>\n

Kathrin Spendier,<\/b>\u00a0<\/b>assistant professor, Department of Physics, College of Letters, Arts and Sciences.<\/p>\n

Spendier previously was a research associate for the UCCS Center of the University of Colorado Biofrontiers Institute, a lecturer for the Physics Department and a graduate research assistant at the University of New Mexico.<\/p>\n

She earned bachelor\u2019s, master\u2019s and Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico.<\/p>\n

Kevin Tvrdy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Kevin Tvrdy,<\/b> assistant professor, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, College of Letters, Arts and Sciences.<\/p>\n

Tvrdy previously was a post-doctoral researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a research and development technician.<\/p>\n

He earned a bachelor\u2019s degree from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and Ph.D. from Notre Dame University.<\/p>\n
