Giant U-C-C-S letters will be lit as part of the spirit rally<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

UCCS students, staff and faculty will kickoff Homecoming 2013 at a Sept. 30 spirit rally that features the lighting of giant UCCS letters.<\/p>\n

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. on El Pomar Plaza and will include free food and drinks, a meet-and-greet with UCCS student-athletes, team coaches, and representatives from UCCS clubs and organizations.<\/p>\n

\u201cHomecoming also is about building an initiating school spirit,\u201d Stephen Cucchiara, assistant director, Office of Student Activities, said. \u201cWhat better way to kick off Homecoming than introducing our team captains and really setting the tone for a week of exciting programs and functions for students, faculty, staff, and alums.\u201d<\/p>\n

The rally will end with the Pedestrian Spine being lit with CU-colored lights that lead to an illuminated set of giant UCCS letters overlooking El Pomar Plaza. The\u00a0walkway will remain lit throughout the Homecoming week.<\/p>\n

The Respect on Campus committee is hosting a drive for TESSA. Those who bring any of the suggested items will be able to have a picture taken with a cardboard-mounted photograph of Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak. Prizes will be awarded for the best photo. Suggested items include:<\/p>\n
