Attendees sipped specially-brewed beers from Cerberus Brewing Company, sampled accompanying bites and engaged with works from emerging Front Range artists at GOCA’s inaugural Fresh & Tasty fundraiser.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Featuring fresh art and tasty food \u2013 as well as fresh food\nand tasty art \u2013 the inaugural Feb. 13 Fresh & Tasty fundraiser at GOCA\nDowntown brought foodies and art enthusiasts together to celebrate both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attendees treated their taste buds to three brand-new beers created\nespecially for the evening by Cerberus Brewing Company \u2013 including a hoppy\nSaison, a Stygian porter and a cherry cheesecake Berliner Weisse with notes of\nvanilla, graham cracker and cherry cordial. Each beer paired with small bites\nof warm duck confit salad, Colorado lamb raggu and gorgonzola cheesecake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attendees also treated their eyeballs to twelve pieces of artwork featured in the Great Expectations: 2020 exhibition curated by Daisy McGowan, director of the UCCS Galleries of Contemporary Art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Great Expectations exhibition includes 11 emerging artists\nliving and working along the Front Range of Colorado. It features new works in\na wide variety of media including drawing, ceramics, installation art,\npainting, fiber art and new media. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One \u201cmixed-reality\u201d installation piece by Sean Winters and\nKevin Sweet invites viewers to don a virtual reality headset that transforms\nthe gallery into a video game-style projection. Another, \u201cThe Deborahs Project,\u201d\nallows the public to leave a personal token in exchange for a red silk scarf\nbelonging to Deborah Schoen, the artist, in order to temporarily take on life in\nher shoes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proceeds from Fresh & Tasty will support GOCA\u2019s future exhibitions\nand events. As a program of UCCS, GOCA is responsible for raising 100 percent\nof the funds needed to bring art and artists to the Pikes Peak region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GOCA Downtown is open to the public on the first Friday of\nthe month from 5-8 p.m., the first Saturdays of the month from 1-6 p.m. and by\nappointment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
