The top two teams from each campus will\nadvance to compete for the $2,000 grand prize awarded at the celebration of the\n50th Anniversary of Earth Day on April 22. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOne of the most exciting aspects for UCCS students\nparticipating in the CU President\u2019s Sustainable Solutions Challenge will be the\npotential funding opportunity for their projects and programs through the Green\nAction Fund,\u201d said Kimberly Reeves, senior sustainability programs manager in\nthe Office of Sustainability. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSince the PSSC Pitch Night Evaluation Criteria are very\nsimilar to our own Green Action Fund five pillars, students can also consider\napplying for grant funding and leave a legacy at UCCS by making campus more\nsustainable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To participate in the competition, students should develop a\nshort-pitch presentation that describes a proposed sustainability initiative.\nInitiatives should address environmental quality, economic and resource\nefficiency and\/or social equity on the UCCS campus or through the CU system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Qualifying teams at both stages of the competition will\npresent their ideas to a panel of judges and will be evaluated on the\nanticipated impact of their project, its innovation and its feasibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UCCS students interested in the competition should keep the\nfollowing dates in mind:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Informational Session \u2013 Thursday, Feb. 20 2-5 p.m. | KFL 2nd Floor Apse<\/li><li>Registration Closes \u2013 Monday, Mar. 9<\/li><li>Proposal Workshop \u2013 Thursday, Mar. 12 2-5 p.m. | UC 116<\/li><li>Proposals Due \u2013 Wednesday, Apr. 1<\/li><li>UCCS Pitch Night \u2013 Tuesday, Apr. 7 4-7 p.m. | UC 303<\/li><li>Grand Prize Pitch Night \u2013 Wednesday, Apr. 22 | CU Boulder<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students should register before the Mar. 9 deadline.
