The refreshing and energetic young chamber orchestra A Far Cry will bring its unique classical music style to the Ent Center for the Arts Feb. 11. Presented by the UCCS Presents Artist Series, the Boston-based self-conducted orchestra was founded in 2007 and is known for its unique approach to the chamber repertoire. A Far Cry has popularized orchestral performances for a younger generation and topped the classical music charts. The orchestra was nominated for two Grammy Awards in Best Small Ensemble and Best Engineered for its 2018 album “Visions and Variations.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs a former orchestral musician myself, I am astonished by the level of virtuosity and chamber music making on display by A Far Cry. This is one of the finest chamber orchestras I\u2019ve heard in some time,\u201d said Aisha Ahmad-Post, director of the Ent Center for the Arts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 18-piece orchestra will perform Arvo P\u00e4rt\u2019s “Cantus in Memoriam of Benjamin Britten,” Mozart\u2019s Serenade No. 6 in D Major, Edward Elgar\u2019s <\/em>“Introduction and Allegro,” and the Tchaikovsky “Serenade for Strings,” which will be performed from memory.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UCCS Presents Artist Series brings the world to Colorado Springs by leveraging the Ent Center for the Arts to connect world-class performers with the people of southern Colorado. Founded in 2018, the Artist Series features emerging and venerated musicians, dancers, and live performance experiences.\u202f  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
