Lewis to campus the week of Nov. 18 for a series of musical happenings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The festival will feature a grand opening centered on student musical performances&nbsp;and films&nbsp;written specifically for the George Lewis residency, a concert featuring Lewis\u2019 work, a campus-wide lecture in the UCCS Dean\u2019s Scholar Series and the world premiere of Lewis\u2019 double concerto for trumpet and piano with the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of particular note is Lewis\u2019 concert with UCCS music faculty and students on Thursday, Nov. 21. The concert will include Lewis\u2019 groundbreaking and interactive work&nbsp;<em>Voyager<\/em>, which is performed with a Yamaha Disklavier computer-controlled concert grand piano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The festival will close on Sunday, Nov. 24 with Lewis\u2019 brand-new double concerto for trumpet and piano&nbsp;to be performed by Dr. Glen Whitehead, professor of Music UCCS and Susan Grace, faculty at Colorado College. In a grand collaboration, musicians from UCCS, Colorado College and the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs will close with a \u201cBeginnings of Bluegrass\u201d concert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year\u2019s festival is made possible by the UCCS Department of Visual and Performing Arts and the Office of Research, the Heller Center for Arts and Humanities, Colorado College and the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs.
