School of Public Affairs dean George Reed celebrated the college’s faculty and staff at an appreciative f\u00eate at the Ent Center for the Arts. \u201cWe\u2019re celebrating a culture,” he said.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The School of Public Affairs celebrated winning first place in the 2019 faculty and staff giving challenge during a f\u00eate at the Ent Center for the Arts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Senior vice chancellor for university advancement and development Martin Wood took the stage to congratulate the college on a <\/span>60 <\/span>percent participation rate<\/span> \u2013 30<\/span> percent higher than <\/span>Central Services, which took second place in the challenge.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Wood remarked that when employees give back to the university, \u201cIt says they believe in what happens here, that they believe in the mission and vision of what\u2019s going on. They believe in the students. They\u2019re supportive in what\u2019s happening at the university. It sends a powerful message<\/span>.\u201d<\/span> <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

School of Public Affairs dean George Reed spoke to the extraordinary dedication the college shows to its students, noting that their donations funded scholarships for UCCS students with financial need.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI want you all to know how proud I am of each and every one of you<\/span>,\u201d<\/span> Reed said. \u201cIt\u2019s one thing to invest in the university because of a competition \u2013 but this isn\u2019t about a competition, really. It\u2019s about how much you care for your students.\u201d<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re celebrating a culture<\/span>,\u201d<\/span> he continued. \u201cThat\u2019s what I\u2019m most proud of: that there is a culture in the School of Public Affairs such that you wanted to invest in our students. That is truly worth celebration. It\u2019s an extraordinary thing.\u201d<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The Kraemer Family Library took third place in this year\u2019s challenge with 19 percent participation. <\/span>The College of Business, College of Education and the Student Success division tied for fourth place with 12 percent of staff and faculty participating.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
