Astronaut Scott Kelly<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

For nearly a year, astronaut Scott Kelly\u00a0<\/span>floated in microgravity aboard the International Space Station 250 miles deep into space. Now that he\u2019s returned to Earth, UCCS is proud to announce that Kelly will speak to campus on\u00a0<\/span>Tuesday, September 24, 2019<\/span><\/b>\u00a0at the Gallogly Events Center.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kelly is one of a select group of Americans to travel to space and, with three prior missions under his belt, he has logged a total of\u00a0520 days in orbit. His recent stint on the International Space Station afforded NASA the unprecedented opportunity to study the effects of outer space on the human body.\u00a0<\/span>Ten science teams in NASA\u2019s Twins Study examined Kelly and his identical twin brother \u2013 astronaut Mark Kelly \u2013 before, during and after Scott\u2019s 340 days in space.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kelly will speak on campus thanks to the Department of Student Life, in partnership with the Daniels Ethics Fund, the College of Engineering and the Office of Veteran and Military Affairs. He will share\u00a0<\/span>stories from space and personal reflections on leadership,\u00a0<\/span>teamwork<\/span>\u00a0and testing limits.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Early bird advanced ticket sales begin on\u00a0<\/span>Monday, August 12, 2019<\/span><\/b>\u00a0at the University Center information desk and online. Tickets will be\u00a0<\/span>$2\u00a0for all\u00a0<\/span>UCCS Students, Faculty\/<\/span>Staff<\/span>\u00a0and military.\u00a0<\/span>Tickets for\u00a0<\/span>community members<\/span>\u00a0will be\u00a0<\/span>$5\u00a0and can be purchased online<\/a><\/span>\u00a0as well as at the University Center Information Desk.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
