One year into the <\/span><\/span><\/span>planning process, t<\/span>he 2020-2030 UCCS Strategic Plan is\u00a0<\/span>another\u00a0<\/span>step closer to completion\u00a0\u2013 and feedback from<\/span><\/span>\u00a0campus continues to help it take shape.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

After Chancellor Venkat Reddy\u2019s town hall sessions in March, during which over 250 faculty, staff and students provided feedback on initial strategic themes, campus members formed and joined working groups for each of the plan\u2019s seven core strategies. Working groups were tasked with identifying the priorities, initiatives, anticipated\u00a0outcomes\u00a0and measures of success for\u00a0<\/span>each of the strategic themes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On June 25, members of the Chancellor\u2019s cabinet<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and group leaders\u00a0<\/span>presented\u00a0<\/span>each group\u2019s findings.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The UCCS 2020-2030 strategic plan is organized around seven objectives (referred to as core strategies):<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Cultivate excellence in research and creative works.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Strengthen\u00a0<\/span>enrollment and retention efforts to drive long-term<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>stability and sustainability<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. F<\/span>oster a community of engagement and inclusive belonging.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. I<\/span>nvest\u202fdeliberately and sustainably\u202fin\u00a0<\/span>UCCS\u2019<\/span>\u00a0people, processes, buildings and technology.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. E<\/span>xpand revenue sources to ensure future growth and uphold<\/span>\u00a0UCCS\u2019<\/span>\u00a0access mission by increasing student affordability.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. S<\/span>upport competitive programs and initiatives that cement\u00a0<\/span>UCCS\u2019<\/span>\u00a0unique value in the region and nationwide.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. P<\/span>ursue\u00a0<\/span>university\u00a0<\/span>partnerships t<\/span>hat<\/span>\u00a0create opportunities for\u00a0<\/span>UCCS\u2019<\/span>\u00a0students, faculty, staff and\u00a0wider\u00a0community.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    During the June 25 core strategy review, leaders from each working group presented their team\u2019s proposed initiatives to an audience of faculty, staff and students. Each 25-minute presentation outlined three to four key initiatives, two to three potential outcomes, and three to four methods of measuring the success of the overall strategy. Team leaders then\u00a0<\/span>responded to<\/span>\u00a0questions from audience members.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    According to Chancellor Reddy,\u00a0<\/span>\u201cThis plan will determine what we are going to do through the next decade.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u201cI really want us to plan for the next 50 years, not just the next 10 years<\/span>,\u201d<\/span>\u00a0he remarked as he introduced the session<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u201c<\/span>When we are not around, what would we want to see this university be<\/span>?\u00a0<\/span>Let\u2019s think about this plan as far-reaching and know that we get to determine our destiny<\/span>.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The next phase of the strategic planning process will continue to open the plan for feedback from the campus community. Each week from July 15 to August 26, faculty, staff and students will receive a \u201cdeep dive\u201d summary into one of the strategic plan\u2019s seven core strategies.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    All campus community members are encouraged to submit feedback to further refine the existing core strategies<\/span>\u00a0through a submission box hosted on the\u00a0<\/span>Strategic Plan website<\/span><\/a>. The submission box will go live prior to the first core strategy review on July 15.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
