Jon Caudill has something to celebrate.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Web of Science Group\u202frecently released its 2019 Journal Citation Reports ranking the world\u2019s most influential scientific and research journals. The group ranked the journal \u201cYouth Violence and Juvenile Justice\u201d, co-edited by UCCS\u2019 Jon Caudill an<\/span>d <\/span>Chad Trulson<\/span> of the University of North Texas<\/span>, in the top ten criminology and penology journals worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n

The journal is published quarterly and provides academic and juvenile justice practitioners with peer-reviewed research on programs, <\/span>policies<\/span> and practices in the areas of youth violence and juvenile justice. It particularly encourages the publication of program evaluations, policy analyses and empirical research.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to its top-ten ranking, the <\/span>SCImago<\/span> Journal Rank \u2013 a measure of scientific influence of scholarly journals \u2013 gives \u201cYouth Violence and Juvenile Justice\u201d an h-index of 39, just one point away from \u201coutstanding\u201d. The h-index combines measures of productivity (i.e., number of papers produced) and impact (number of citations) to measure the scope and influence of academic publications.<\/span><\/p>\n

Caudill is a professor and director of the Master of Criminal Justice program in UCCS\u2019 School of Public Affairs. In addition to co-editing \u201cYouth Violence and Juvenile Justice\u201d, he serves as an <\/span>a<\/span>ssociate <\/span>e<\/span>ditor for the Journal of Criminal Justice. Caudill also serves as an ad hoc reviewer for several other academic journals, where he reviews scientific research on policing culture, policing strategies, gangs, public policy, therapeutic program evaluations, organizational behavior, institutional <\/span>misconduct<\/span> and recidivism.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe ability to facilitate knowledge creation and dissemination is something I enjoy very much<\/span>,\u201d Caudill says<\/span>. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Having the opportunity to work with scholars from around the world is invaluable<\/span>. <\/span>We have a great Editorial Board and that makes our job so much easier. Also, we have remarkable support from the <\/span>u<\/span>niversity, the School of Public Affairs, and our colleagues, which is meaningful in many ways<\/span>.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Caudill sees the success of the journal <\/span>as a result of<\/span> strong collaboration<\/span>. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>T<\/span>his is a team effort<\/span>,\u201d<\/span> he says.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dean of the School of Public Affairs<\/span> <\/span>George Reed<\/span> noted that the journal’s top-ten nod <\/span>\u201c<\/span>is continuing evidence of the increasing prominence of our Criminal Justice program. Our faculty remain dedicated to providing <\/span>great value<\/span> to the field and<\/span>,<\/span> most importantly, to our community.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
