More than 1,400 degrees will be conferred during the spring semester.<\/p>\n<p>Complete information on logistics for graduates and guests can be found at <a href=\"http:\/\/uccs.edu\/commencement\/spring-ceremony\">uccs.edu\/commencement\/spring-ceremony<\/a>. The ceremony is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Timing<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The morning ceremony for the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences will be at 10:30 a.m. Graduates are asked to arrive by at least 9:45 a.m. and use the Penrose Club entrance. Doors to World Arena open at 9 a.m. for guests.<\/p>\n<p>The afternoon ceremony for the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences, College of Business, School of Public Affairs, College of Education and College of Engineering and Applied Science is at 2:30 p.m.\u00a0Graduates are asked to arrive by at least 1:45 p.m. and use the Penrose Club entrance. Doors to World Arena open at 1 p.m. for guests.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Seating<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Seats are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and graduates are allowed an unlimited number of guests. The World Arena does not allow individuals to hold more than two seats for other guests, so it is encouraged for groups who plan to sit together to enter the arena at the same time. No advance tickets are required.<\/p>\n<p>Handicapped seating is available in Row K, which runs the perimeter of the arena, and one folding chair is available to accompany the wheelchair. Sign language services are available in section 107.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Security<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Everyone \u2013 graduates and guests \u2013 is subject to security procedures and screening as they enter the Broadmoor World Arena. The arena limits people to one clear plastic bag with dimensions of 12\u201dx6\u201dx12\u201d or smaller, and one clutch with dimensions of 4.5\u201dx6.5\u201d or smaller. There is no storage for graduates in the Broadmoor World Arena, and graduates should expect to carry onto the floor anything they bring into the arena.<\/p>\n<p>A complete list of World Arena policies is available at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.broadmoorworldarena.com\/plan-your-visit\/arena-policies\">http:\/\/www.broadmoorworldarena.com\/plan-your-visit\/arena-policies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Traffic and directions<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Broadmoor World Arena is located at 3185 Venetucci Blvd. The suggested route is to take Exit 138 on Interstate 25, go west on Lake Ave., and then south on Venetucci. Traffic is expected to be heavy before and after each ceremony, and guests are encouraged to allow extra time and carpool if possible. Parking is free in the World Arena lots.<\/p>\n<p>For guests traveling from Denver, Interstate 25 between Castle Rock and Monument is being expanded. Victoria Asuquo, a first-generation student earning her degree in biology, will deliver the morning address. Ryan Dobbs, an Army veteran earning his degree in nursing, will delivery the afternoon address.<\/p>\n<p>CU President Bruce Benson will also address graduates at both ceremonies in his final UCCS commencement appearance as president. He will retire this summer after 11 years as president.<\/p>\n<p>CU Regents Sue Sharkey (chair), Chance Hill and Lesley Smith\u00a0will also be in attendance. The regents will deliver the Norlin Charge and congratulate each graduate during the presentation of degrees.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Alumni Association<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Upon graduation, each student will join nearly 47,000 UCCS alumni. Enrollment in the UCCS Alumni and Friends Association is complimentary and offers special events each year to keep alumni engaged with their alma mater.<\/p>\n<p>The alumni association also offers a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uccs.edu\/alumni\/legacy\">black and gold legacy cord<\/a> for graduates with an immediate family member who is also a UCCS graduate.
