While the Office of Sustainability and the Green Action Fund had plans to celebrate Earth Week, Mother Nature did not fully cooperate.<\/p>\n

With more than 150 UCCS community members attending Earth Day celebrations on April 22 on El Pomar Plaza, the week was off to a great start.\u00a0Participants\u00a0learned about the\u00a0university’s\u00a0sustainability\u00a0goals, the difference between landfills, recycling and compost and\u00a0how to live a more sustainable lifestyle.<\/p>\n

The Office of Sustainability and the Office of Student Activities\u00a0originally\u00a0planned to show “Finding Nemo“<\/em>\u00a0on April 24 on the West Lawn, but cancelled because of cool temperatures. \u00a0The event is rescheduled to 8 p.m. April 30 on the\u00a0Telluride-Vail quad.<\/p>\n

Kevin Gilford,\u00a0assistant director, Office of Sustainability, hopes to close the week strongly as\u00a0UCCS faculty, staff and students join together to\u00a0help clean the Templeton Gap Floodway as part of the UCCS \u201cAdopt-A-Waterway\u201d project at 10:30 a.m. on April 26.<\/p>\n

According to Gilford, the event will last until 1 p.m. and is a great way for individuals to help clean up the local\u00a0environment\u00a0and improve the Colorado Springs water quality.<\/p>\n
