Martin Wood, senior vice chancellor, University Advancement, was named the 2018 Outstanding Fundraising Executive by the Association of Fundraising Professionals of Southern Colorado.
Individuals who enhance philanthropy in their communities and world through hard work and dedication are recognized each year. Wood received the award during the 2018 Summit on Philanthropy luncheon Sept. 28 in Berger Hall.
Throughout his 25 years at UCCS, Wood has been responsible for annual fundraising campaigns totaling $217 million and has served on three national capital campaign steering committees that have raised over $1.9 billion.
Wood chairs the Regional Leadership Forum, serves on the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation board and is a founding member of the Colorado Springs Regional Leaders Trips. He also serves as a board member for the National Cybersecurity Center.
“I’m honored to have received this award,” Wood said. “None of this would have been possible without my team and support of the Colorado Springs community.”
Wood oversees development, marketing communications, alumni relations, special events, partnerships and public policy, and strategic military initiatives at UCCS. He also founded and manages the Regional Connect university/community partnership program.
Previous winners include Joan Selman, executive director, Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation; Sheila Ferguson, CFRE, director of development, The Resource Exchange; and Ron Rubin, development director for major gifts, The Memorial Hospital Foundation.
