Regents approve 22 for sabbatical

The CU Board of Regents approved semester and academic year sabbaticals for 22 UCCS faculty members for 2018-19 at a Feb. 8 meeting conducted at CU South Denver in Parker.

Those approved were:

  • Heather Albanesi, associate professor, Sociology Department
  • Christopher Bell, associate professor, Communication Department
  • Brian Duvick, associate professor, History Department
  • Brandon Gavett, assistant professor, Psychology Department (if granted tenure)
  • Cerian Gibbes, assistant professor, Biology Department (if granted tenure)
  • Anatoliy Glushchenko, professor, Physics and Energy Science Department
  • John Harner, professor, Geography and Environmental Studies Department
  • Jugal Kalita, professor, College of Engineering and Applied Science
  • Deborah Kenny, associate professor, Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences
  • Inhan Kim, assistant professor, Political Science Department (if granted tenure)
  • Rebecca Laroche, professor, English Department
  • Michael Larson, professor, College of Engineering and Applied Science
  • Karen Livesey, assistant professor, Physics and Energy Science Department (if granted tenure)
  • Sherry Morreale, professor, Communication Department
  • Eugenia Olesnicky Killian, assistant professor, Biology Department (if granted tenure)
  • Sara Qualls, Kraemer Family Professor of Aging Studies, Psychology Department
  • Constance Staley, professor, Communication Department
  • Kee Warner, professor, Sociology Department
  • Glen Whitehead, associate professor, Visual and Performing Arts Department
  • Carole Woodall, associate professor, Department of History and Women’s and Ethnic Studies Program

After six years of service to the university on regular full-time appointment, a tenured member of the faculty is eligible for a sabbatical assignment. Faculty who receive sabbaticals are expected to use the sabbatical assignment to enhance his or her scholarly teaching competence and potential for service to the university and advance departmental program goals.
