Biology faculty earns Quality Matters certification

Eugenia Olesnicky Killian, assistant professor, Biology Department, recently completed the Quality Matters certification for her course BIOL 1350: General Biology II Introduction to the Cell. She certified the lecture component of an integrated lecture/laboratory course that introduces concepts of structure and functional relationships among biological molecules, cellular metabolism, genetics and molecular biology.

Quality Matters is a national recognized faculty-centered peer review process designed to highlight the quality of online courses and components. The Quality Matters rubric is the most widely used set of standards for the design of online and blended courses at the college level. At UCCS, Quality Matters certification is coordinated by the Faculty Resource Center. There are now 25 courses with the Quality Matters certification.
