
Melinda Hagemann, development director, Office of Development, will become executive director and will supervise the private fundraising efforts of the campus effective Nov. 1.
Hagemann’s promotion was announced by Martin Wood, senior vice chancellor, University Advancement.
“Melinda has demonstrated exceptional ability to connect with donors and with the campus,” Wood said. “I am pleased that she has accepted the challenge of leading the department.”
Hagemann joined the university in 2012 as an associate director of development and was promoted to director in 2015. She led the fundraising efforts for intercollegiate athletics and the College of Business and assisted with scholarship and Ent Center for the Arts fundraising. Before she joined the university, Hagemann was an advertising manager for the Colorado Springs Gazette and worked in retail sales. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico. She was a member of the 2013 Leadership Pikes Peak class and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Hagemann replaces Jaime Garcia as executive director. Garcia is returning from medical leave and has asked to come back in a director of development position.
