This year’s Bash the Bluffs 5K race April 16 will honor UCCS Police Officer Garrett Swasey, Jennifer Markovsky and Ke’Arre Stewart, who died in November in a shooting at a local Planned Parenthood facility.
The race marks the 15th annual run/walk, in memory of Ed Burke, a renowned researcher and former associate professor of biology at UCCS. This year, race organizers also collaborated with Army ROTC to recognize its 100th anniversary.
The 5K starts at 8:30 a.m. with awards after the race. Free parking will be available in Alpine Garage with overflow parking at Four Diamonds Sports Complex on North Nevada Avenue.
The race course starts and ends at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center. Roads on campus will remain open. Dogs and strollers are welcome.
