Schwartz named acting provost

Terry Schwartz, associate vice chancellor, Academic Affairs, will become acting provost beginning Oct. 19.

Schwartz will serve as acting vice chancellor until approximately Feb. 1, 2016 while Mary Coussons-Read takes leave from her administrative duties because of family medical issues.

Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak made the announcement Oct. 5 after consulting with Coussons-Read.

“Mary has asked me for a leave in order for her to deal with critical medical problems in her family,” Shockley-Zalabak wrote in her campus announcement. “I am fully supportive of her request. I know you will provide support for both Mary and Terry.”

Schwartz was named associate vice chancellor in October 2014. Previously, she served as interim dean and associate dean of the School of Public Affairs. She joined UCCS in 2004.
