Starting in summer 2025, the Master’s in Leadership with a concentration in Student Affairs in Higher Education (SAHE) program at UCCS will transition to a new hybrid instruction format. This change is designed to accommodate the diverse needs of working professionals, allowing them to pursue their graduate education with greater flexibility, while also meeting the needs of graduate students seeking in-person course meetings and connections with peers.
The new hybrid model will consist of one in-person class per month held on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., complemented by asynchronous online coursework. This structure provides the best of both worlds—offering the convenience of remote learning while still fostering valuable in-person connections and engagement with faculty and peers.
“Our department and college value the opportunity to foster meaningful relationships with both faculty and fellow students,” said Jennifer Newcomb, a student within the program. “The hybrid learning environment will continue this tradition and provide invaluable experiences.”
The program continues to be the only student affairs master’s degree program in Colorado with an ongoing in-person component, ensuring that students can build strong professional networks and receive personalized support throughout their educational journey.
Department Chair Patty Witkowsky said, “We are committed to expanding student affairs education throughout the state and designed the hybrid model to develop leaders who can influence learning environments in Colorado and beyond.”
For those interested in joining our program, applications for those interested in participating in the Graduate Assistantship interview day will be due January 31, 2025, while general applications for the SAHE program will be accepted until March 15, 2025. More information regarding admissions, program details, and financial aid can be found on the College of Education website.
Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to share this exciting news with anyone interested in pursuing a master’s degree in student affairs to advance their careers and enhance their professional practice.
