Bill McElligott was sworn in as the new Fire Marshal of UCCS on July 15, 2024. McElligott comes to UCCS having previously served as a Fire Marshal and Fire Chief in the State of Florida, where he has obtained lifetime Fire Fighter designation.
McElligott most recently served with the Colorado Springs Fire Department, Office of the Fire Marshal. McElligott brings 30 years of invaluable service and experience. He is certified as a Fire Marshal having obtained his Fire Inspector III and Plan Examiner certification.
Additionally, McElligott is a certified HazMat Technician, Fire & Arson Investigator, and Public Life Safety Educator I. As the highest ranking, experienced and certified Fire Officer at UCCS, McElligott will duly serve as the Campus Fire Chief. As such, he will manage all aspects of fire and life safety on campus.
