UCCS launches effort to build science teachers

UCCS will join other leading universities working to increase the number of math and science teachers in the U.S. by offering the nationally regarded UTeach program this year. UCCS was recently selected as an expansion site for UTeach, a successful program developed in 1997 at the University of Texas. (More)

UCCS alum donates $1 million to name new event center

The new, 1,250-seat UCCS event center will bear the name of a family of eight UCCS alums. James L. “Jim” Gallogly, a 1974 graduate, and his wife, Janet, on behalf of the Gallogly family, have pledged to donate $1 million to the CU Foundation. The donation will be used to help fund the $9 million campus event center scheduled for a 4 grand opening and for other campus needs. It is the first full UCCS building named in honor of a campus alum. (More)

College of Business awarded $1.25 million ethics grant

The UCCS College of Business was awarded a $1.25 million grant this week to help further instill a high standard of ethics in students attending the university.

Charles Sweet joins campus ranks

Longtime University of Colorado general counsel Charles “Charlie” Sweet will continue to assist the university in a new role. Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak announced that Sweet will begin work for UCCS as executive director of strategic planning and initiatives. (More)

Homeland Security Certificates at UCCS

The Center for Homeland Security, part of the National Institute of Science, Space and Security Centers at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, will offer two new certificates in security intelligence and disaster public health this month. (More)

State Attorney General to teach UCCS course

January 21, 2010

Colorado’s top law enforcement officer, Attorney General John Suthers, will teach a joint undergraduate and graduate course in criminal justice at UCCS for the spring semester. Suthers will be a scholar in residence for the UCCS School of Public Affairs. He is the first person to hold the position. (More)
