Several graduate programs at UCCS continue to be highly ranked by U.S. News & World Report.
In the 2014 edition, released March 12, the School of Public Affairs is ranked 29 nationally among public and private universities. The School of Public Affairs is based at CU Denver and UCCS. Also tied for 29 were Columbia University, Ohio State University and University of Maryland, College Park.
On its website, U.S. News provides access to top rankings – usually the top 50 – at no charge. For extra cost, the publication provides access to additional rankings that span several years.
An overview of UCCS graduate program rankings follows
The UCCS program was ranked 112 among public and private universities across the nation in the 2014 edition of Best Graduate Schools. Other programs tied for the 112 ranking include those at Ball State University, State University of New York at Buffalo, University of Texas-San Antonio, and Virginia Commonwealth University.
The UCCS program was ranked 36 among public and private universities across the nation in the 2013 edition of Best Graduate Schools.
The UCCS engineering program was ranked 143 among public and private universities across the nation in the 2013 edition of Best Graduate Schools. Other programs tied for the 143 ranking include those at New Mexico State University, Santa Clara University and the University of North Carolina, Charlotte.
The UCCS electrical engineering program was ranked 122 among public and private universities across the nation in the 2013 edition of Best Graduate Schools. Other programs tied for the 122 ranking include those at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville; University of Dayton,; University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth; University of Massachusetts, Lowell; University of Texas, San Antonio; University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee; and Wright State University.
The UCCS psychology program was ranked 132 among public and private universities across the nation in the 2013 edition of Best Graduate Schools. Other programs tied for 132 ranking include those at American University, St. Louis University, Texas Tech University, University of Cincinnati, University of Maryland Baltimore County, University of Missouri St. Louis, University of Nevada Reno and University of South Carolina.
The UCCS nursing program was ranked 99 in the 2011 edition of the Best Graduate Schools. Other programs tied for 99 include City University of New York, East Carolina University, East Tennessee State University, Fairfield University, Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College, Gonzaga University, Loma Linda University, Mount St. Mary’s College, Northeastern University, Northwestern State University of Louisiana, Texas Christian University, University of Alabama Huntsville, University of Hawaii Manoa, University of Indianapolis, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, University of Michigan Flint, University of Mississippi Medical Center University of Nevada Las Vegas, University of Northern Colorado, University of St. Francis, University of Texas Tyler, University of Toledo, Valparaiso University and West Virginia University.
Rankings are based on two types of data: expert opinions about program quality, and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school’s faculty, research and students. These data come from surveys of more than 1,200 programs and some 12,400 academics and professionals. The publication aims to provide a tool to students and parents who are comparing college programs at accredited public and private universities in the United States.
