Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak was selected as the 2011 recipient of the Makepeace Community Trustee Award by Leadership Pikes Peak.
Shockley-Zalabak received the award April 16.
The award honors an individual whose exemplary and sustained community leadership has had a lasting impact on a broad segment of the Pikes Peak region, according to the Leadership Pikes Peak website. The award is named in honor of former Colorado Springs Mayor Marylou Makepeace.
Leadership Pikes Peak is a nonprofit organization founded in 1976 under the name Citizens’ Goals for the Colorado Springs Community. The organization provides community-focused leadership development programs that promote community engagement in the Pikes Peak region and has more than 1,200 graduates.
