MOSAIC open house to introduce new resources

The Multicultural Office for Student Access, Inclusiveness and Community will host an open house beginning at 4 p.m. Feb. 16 in its University Center office to introduce a staff member who will provide services for UCCS students, faculty and staff.

Kerrianne Smith, a graduate student in sociology, was recently hired to staff the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Resource Center at MOSAIC. The center will support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender campus community members, advocate for LGBT concerns, and engage in community education.

Smith was selected for the position in January, according to Anthony Cordova, director, MOSAIC. She follows Ryan Acker, executive director, Pikes Peak Gay and Lesbian Community Center, who spent much of the fall semester working with MOSAIC to lay groundwork for the resource center. Smith is employed by the Pikes Peak Gay and Lesbian Community Center which contracts with UCCS to provide support services.

For more information, campus community members are encouraged to attend the open house, contact Smith directly at, or visit her office at UC 110.
