We are deeply saddened this morning to share news of the loss of a member of our campus community.
Shortly after midnight Sunday morning Oct. 29, a student was struck by a car while crossing Austin Bluffs Parkway near Stanton Road. He died as a result of injuries suffered.
University Police are assisting the Colorado Springs Police Department in the investigation of this incident.
Colorado Springs Police will lead the investigation and will provide any additional updates, including the name of the student who died, following notification of family.
We will share information as it becomes available.

Incident information from Colorado Springs Police:
On October 29, 2017, at approximately 12:23 AM, the Colorado Springs Police Department was notified of an auto/pedestrian accident in the eastbound lanes of Austin Bluffs Parkway at Stanton Road. Three pedestrians were crossing the eastbound lanes of Austin Bluffs Parkway at Stanton Road when a vehicle that was eastbound on Austin Bluffs Parkway struck two of the pedestrians. The vehicle fled the scene eastbound on Austin Bluffs Parkway. One pedestrian died at the scene, one pedestrian suffered minor injuries, and one pedestrian was not injured.
The Colorado Springs Police Department’s Major Accident Unit responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation.
The suspect vehicle is a light colored full size truck. The truck has been located and is in the custody of the Colorado Springs Police Department. The driver of the run vehicle has been identified.
