Chancellor Memo: Paul Ballantyne

Dear Campus Community,

Dr. A. Paul Ballantyne

It is with great sadness I inform you that Dr. A. Paul Ballantyne, Professor Emeritus of Economics, passed away earlier this week.  Dr. Ballantyne arrived at the Cragmor Campus, as the university was then called, in 1967.  Paul retired from UCCS in 2011 after 44 years of service to the campus, including time as the first campus Dean of Arts & Sciences and 28 years as the featured vocalist at every commencement ceremony.  A short interview was captured with Dr. Ballantyne during our 50th Anniversary; view the video here.

Memorial services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 11 at Mountain View Mortuary, 2350 Montebello Square Drive, Colorado Springs.

We offer our support and condolences to Paul’s family and friends, as we acknowledge his many contributions and impact on the campus we have become today.

Sincerely,

Venkat Reddy
Chancellor
