Campus community members will have the opportunity to meet for a free one-on-one with local independent financial advisors when the national Your Money Bus Tour rolls into Colorado Springs July 8-9.
The UCCS College of Business Alumni Association is a partner in the Colorado Springs stop of this non-profit tour which will visit more than 25 cities. The Your Money Bus Tour is sponsored by The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors Consumer Education Foundation, TD AMERITRADE and Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine.
“I am delighted that the College of Business alumni are organizing this event to benefit the public,” Venkat Reddy, dean, College of Business, said. “Jane Young and her fellow UCCS alumni are working hard to create opportunities for members of our community to build successful futures.”
From 12 p.m.to 7 p.m. July 8, the Your Money Bus Tour will be at the Penrose Public Library, 20 North Cascade.
From 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. July 9, the Your Money Bus Tour will be in parking lot 1 on the east side of the UCCS campus. A campus map is available at www.uccs.edu/map.
At each stop, consumers can sit down with local volunteer financial advisers and ask financial questions. All Money Bus visitors will receive a free financial education kit including a Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine and a budget workbook.
About 40 percent of American families spend more than they earn and the average American with a credit file has more than $16,000 in debt, not including mortgages.
“We encourage people to stop by Your Money Bus to learn how to better save, eliminate debt and develop personal financial sustainability habits that will get them through and beyond these tough times,” Young, a Certified Financial Planner, said.
The NAPFA Consumer Education Foundation is a 501c(3) organization committed to educating Americans on personal finance. All volunteer financial advisers are fee-only fiduciaries. No products will be sold or promoted and advisers will donate their services. Appointments are available and walk-up visits are welcome.
